Buying A Business

Buy a business with ease!

By Harvey L. Gardner

It's exciting buying your own business. But if you've never bought a business, it also can be confusing, because you can choose from so many businesses. There are several steps to buying just the right business. You've taken the right first step by visiting my Website.

You may want to retain me as your buyer broker! I work with only a few clients at a time, you get personal one-on-one attention.

This is what I do for you:

  • Help you determine the right kind of business for you based on your experience, skills, objectives, and situation. Research the market and locate businesses that match your objectives.
  • Help you determine the size business that will provide the amount of income you desire.
  • Contact business owners and initiate talks.
  • Conduct preliminary due diligence investigations of businesses.
  • Put you in touch with the right business for you.
  • Work with your accountant and attorney.
  • Help you find financing.
  • Assist you in negotiating the best deal possible.

I promise to help you by personally working with you to find and purchase a business that is right for you. Buying a business doesn't have much to do with what you read in business books or what you witness of corporate America. I have owned and operated successful businesses. I also have many years in counseling businesses and business people in financial management. I know what you need to do to purchase a business that will work for you.

Occasionally, my suggestions or ideas may seem odd to you, but they work. You won't ever be pressured to make a decision, but I do know the decisions you must make. I will walk you through those decisions in the proper sequence.

The most important decision you will have to make is when to make an offer on a business. Don't view making an offer as a final decision. It's just your first move and you can withdraw at any time, because I show you how to make an offer that protects you.

When to make an offer

You should make an offer to purchase a business when you have seen the business, visited with the owner of the business and determined the business might be right for you.

This is probably the only way you will be able to learn all you need to learn about the business. Many small business owners are reluctant to review details of their business until they know they have a qualified buyer with a genuine interest in their business, and the financial ability to purchase it. Also, why spend all the time and effort to research the business only to find out that you and the seller cannot agree on the price and terms?

Make an offer -- it works!

You are at absolutely no risk -- you can terminate your offer and get your deposit back any time you wish. You will have plenty of time to review all the detailed data you want before you commit to buying the business.

And remember, small business financial statements are prepared to pay little or no taxes, so the financial statements could be hiding a great opportunity for you!

I will use all my experience, knowledge and skill to help you buy your business, right up to getting the legal documents prepared and closing the deal.
